Prevention is the best investment in a long, healthy life. Modern health check-ups help identify risk factors and physical changes early—long before the first symptoms appear. Since we frequently receive the question "Will my health insurance contribute to the cost of the PrevCheck?", we have summarized our current status for you in this article.

The encouraging answer: Yes! An increasing number of Swiss supplementary insurances cover the PrevCheck as part of their preventive healthcare benefits.

In this post, you will learn which health insurers subsidize your PrevCheck, which insurance models are eligible, and how to claim your reimbursement quickly and easily.

Why Do Supplementary Insurances Cover Prevention?

While compulsory basic health insurance (LAMal/KVG) primarily covers treatments in the event of illness, many outpatient supplementary insurances (LCA/VVG) place a strong emphasis on prevention.

Health insurers increasingly reward policyholders who take proactive control of their health. Early diagnosis and targeted screening prevent severe illnesses and substantial follow-up costs over the long term.

Important Note: The exact reimbursement amount depends on your individual supplementary insurance plan as well as your remaining annual prevention budget.

Which Health Insurers Cover the PrevCheck? (As of October 2026)

PrevCheck is currently recognized by specific outpatient supplementary insurance models from renowned Swiss health insurers. Because evidence-based preventive care is growing rapidly, this list is continuously expanding. Important Note Regarding Your Prevention Budget

The exact amount reimbursed does not depend solely on your chosen tariff, but also on how much of your annual prevention budget you have already used in the current calendar year for other services (e.g., fitness memberships, vaccinations, or prior examinations).

Tip: If you are unsure, contact your insurance provider directly beforehand to verify your remaining available budget for outpatient check-ups.

3 Simple Steps to Reimbursement

  1. Book & complete your PrevCheck:
Either create an account online at prevcheck.ch, complete the questionnaire, and pay online, or complete everything without an account in an InStore PrevCheck partner pharmacy near you.
  2. Receive your itemized invoice:
Following your check-up, you will receive an invoice/receipt from us or from the pharmacy that can be submitted to your insurer.
  3. Submit the receipt:
Submit the document digitally via your health insurer's customer portal or mobile app. The refund will be credited directly to your bank account according to your insurance policy terms.

Is Your Insurer Not Listed?

We continuously work on establishing partnerships with additional health insurers to make preventive healthcare check-ups accessible to everyone across Switzerland.

Even if your supplementary insurance is not explicitly listed: Many insurers review reimbursement requests for certified medical check-ups on an individual basis. It is always worthwhile to submit your PrevCheck invoice.
